With 200 new homes we will possibly be looking at around 600 new residents. How will the local area meet the challenge in providing:
- GP services.
- School spaces,
- Dental services?
GP Services

We are in the Brentwood & Basildon Clinical Commissioning Group. A recent BBC study shows that this area has the 6th-worst levels of GP provision in England. What plans are in place to improve this in our local area?
School Spaces
According to an Essex Live report based on 2019/20 admissions the following applications and admissions were recorded for our 4 closest (walking distance) primary schools:
School | Applications | Admissions |
Larchwood | 174 | 60 |
St Thomas’ | 217 | 169 |
St Helen’s | 194 | 89 |
St Mary’s | 198 | 59 |
Many schools select, at least in part, based on proximity to the school. Given this, the number of children potentially resident on the site, if developed, would have priority over existing children. This means the Brentwood area wold have less access to Larchwood, and the Pilgrims Hatch area less access to the Saints’ schools. This is also likely to add further to the number of vehicles on Doddinghurst and Ongar Roads if children can’t get in to local schools.
